After completing the medical billing and coding program at Altierus, you’ll be able to proficiently identify components and use correct medical terminology of body systems, utilize proper ICD-10-CM/CPT/HCPCS coding, and determine proper application of health insurance forms and documents.
You’ll receive preparation and testing for the Certified Professional Coder certification (CPC®) through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
- 8-month diploma program

- 48 credits
- 280 lecture hours + 280 lab hours
- 200-hour externship or practicum

This program features a blend of online and on-campus learning. This is to help make going to school work with your busy schedule. Typically, you will spend 1 day on campus per week, where you can practice hands-on skills and ask your instructor questions. Complete the rest of your coursework online at home, at your own pace, and on your own time.

As a medical billing and coding student, you’ll receive a laptop (which is yours to keep after graduating) to help you with your online coursework as well as prepare you to work in a modern office.
