You'll then likely meet with an admissions advisor who will ask you about your goals and interests. You can even take a free 10 minute assessment on one of our iPads that may help you discover which career paths match up best with you.

We always offer visitors a tour of campus, too. That's the best way to get a sense of life at Altierus. During the process, you'll see and can talk to students, faculty, and other staff, such as Career Services. How can enrolling in an Altierus program lead to a great career?

Altierus is focused on programs for in-demand careers, designed to the standards of national professional associations. You'll learn in simulated work environments that will help you practice skills in your new career before you actually get there. In relevant programs, certification and preparation and testing fees are included in your tuition.

In addition, we'll guide through your learning journey and help you build your professional confidence to pursue a career in your chosen field. Together, we'll model on-the-job behaviors, get your resume in shape, prepare through mock interviews, and network with employers. We want to make sure you are prepared for everything that can make you successful to at the next level.*

How often do programs start? How long do they take to complete?

Most programs typically start every month, so, unlike traditional education, you don't have to wait until the beginning of a seasonal semester to prepare for a new career. You can typically get started right away — or whenever is best for you.

How are programs taught at Altierus?

All programs are taught by industry professionals who've been in the industry and have done the work, so you'll be learning concepts, techniques, and practices that will really matter to your career. Also, we've updated many of our programs to stay relevant and modern.

Some of our programs combine online and in-person learning each week, giving you flexibility to be at home for some of your coursework. You'll still want to come to campus for in-person labs and professional training. For some programs, like Electrical or HVAC, all learning takes place in labs due to the hands-on nature of the work. Altierus is also exploring a fully online option for certain programs as well. Stay tuned.

Is Altierus accredited, and why does that matter?

Altierus is nationally accredited, adhering to standards and guidelines recognized by the U.S. Department of Education: http://www.accsc.org/. Accreditation acts as a seal of quality for your education, which can help make you more attractive to employers.

What's the difference between Altierus and community college?

Altierus strictly offers a career-focused education. That means you don't have to spend extra time and money taking unnecessary or unrelated, pre-requisite courses like many community colleges require. In turn, our diploma programs are often shorter in duration, enabling you to begin your career journey sooner.

Altierus offers a variety of diploma and associate degree programs. Community colleges also offer a variety of programs, too, but because they're part of the state-run educational system, courses are sometimes designed to link to curriculum at a traditional, four-year public institution, which facilitates transfer for further study. Community colleges also tend to have very large campuses and class sizes. In contrast, Altierus cultivates a small, intimate community setting with small class sizes and personalized learning with your faculty and your peers.

If you've ever considered — or have even attended-a community college to achieve your career goals, you should explore what Altierus has to offer. The best way to know if Altierus is a fit for you is to visit a campus. You can even set up an appointment right here, and we'll be in touch with you right away.

What's the difference between non-profit and for-profit schools?

Non-profit (sometimes called not-for-profit) schools reinvest any and all money that they may earn from tuition, fees, financial donors, and other sources back into the student. In contrast, for-profit institutions have the obligation to distribute a portion of the money they earn to outside investors.

Altierus is proudly a non-profit school for the reason that it allows us to have one focus: You.

What is the history of Altierus?

Altierus is a school with a new vision: To serve as a beacon in communities for connecting people to long-term careers that matter, shedding light on a new path of education available to all. Our new logo is representative of this vision, and our brand experience will continually evolve to deliver on it in new ways.

Altierus is owned by Zenith Education Group, who acquired Everest Colleges, Universities, Institutes and WyoTech in 2015, and immediately moved the schools from for-profit business to not-for-profit organizations. Simply put, Zenith's mission for each of its schools is to help students succeed. Since that time, Zenith has invested more than $150 million to transform the schools into sustainable, student-centered learning communities focused on matching students to the right career and then helping to place them in their chosen field of study. Part of this transformation has been the retirement of the Everest brand and legacy and the creation of Altierus. For more information, visit www.zenith.org.
